Setsubun festival 2013

3rd February is a Setsubun festival!
On February 3rd (or 4th), a traditional event called “Setsubun” is practiced in Japan.

“Setsubun” means the day before the beginning of spring according to the lunar calendar.
On this day Japanese participate in traditional ceremony called “Mamemaki” to drive away evil spirits and bring in good fortune.

So, “Udasu shrine ” will held Setsubun Festival.
This traditional event features dances (Geiko dance) dedicated to the god of the shrine.
Geiko will scatter roasted soybeans to drive demons away.

Udasu shrine is near Higashi Geisya district.
It will take 25min on foot from our ryokan.
